» Sana « a–Youth Revolution Civil Coalitions has released a statement Thursday, 14th » July on on Salafi Forces Use of religion, as follows:
The Yemen revolution has been currently witnessing several attempts to get it harnessed to retrospective forces the true attitude of which towards the youth peaceful revolution was clear, mainly establishing a modern state based on equal citizenship, respect of rights and freedoms and power of law.
« This was clear from a speech by Abdulmajeed Alzindany, stating frankly a denial of a modern state and a support of the authoritarian regimes constitution, with purpose of disregard rights, freedoms and equal citizenship. The position has unveiled that the claimed involvement of these forces was only to make the revolution serving objectives of certain groups.
» Salehs « dictator regime has tarnished the constitution of unified Yemen peacefully established in 1990 from the south republic of people democratic Yemen and the north Yemen Arab Republic, through repeated amendments in the aftermath of 1990s civil war launched against the southerners mainly triggered by Alzindany and his salafist movement.
The amendments rejecting equal citizenship, cancelling principle of » race, color, and group-based indiscrimination manifested such a tarnish. They also cancelled group leadership of the state, gathered the three authorities within Salehs hands to a dictator disguised by democracy.
Alzindany, however, praised such a constitution that caused a revolution against its legislation of repression, dictator exercises by so-called the president, describing the modern state advocates as disbelievers. He also considered rejecting the constitution as rejection of Islam.
He constantly depicted the people revolution as Taliban-like, by repeatedly calling for an extremist religious state that was rejected by even highest Muslim scholars of Alazher, Damascus, Bagdad, and west Arab world since early last century.
Alzindany, a symbol of the salafist movement, has rejected calls for a civil state by millions of squire youth, and the revolution legitimacy to express point of view of a group that want to use religion to enforce their positions. He confirmed that it is only scholars who are authorized to legislate, disregarding that the nation is owner and source of power whether directly or indirectly.
« WE call upon all of the Islah party, mainly led by Alzindany, joint meeting parties, the national dialogue preparatory committee to clearly stating a position towards these calls negatively affecting progress of the youth peaceful revolution. WE also call upon all squires youth and civil society organizations to take a position towards such custodianship, the coming Friday be named as ” Civil State Friday” presenting the project by the dialogue sub-committee , and discussing it openly.
Such eliminating calls by name of Islam do not serve it in so much as damaging the revolution when revolution legitimacy that is the only way towards goals achievement, including building a civil state, is rejected.
The Alzindany call represent a backward step towards Yemen of backwardness and
Inquisition
» and an evil trial for people revolution to be custody of” Wilayat al-Faqih” or Muslim scholars rule.
We , in freedom squires, do confirm that the modern civil state is our major goal, warning against any attempt to foil revolution, diverting its progress to serve parties that followed, and still, former regime, exploiting religion for personal interests. We also call all coalitions, parties, and political organizations demanding a civil state to strongly counter such retrospective calls that try to bring Yemen to prerevolutionary era.
