Yemen: tens of thousands rally against government

Sanaa- Tens of thousands of opposing Joint Meeting Parties demonstrated Thursday in the capital Sanaa with chants against the ruling party action and ask for president of Yemens removal.

Thousands, estimated between 30000- 40000, gathered in four areas with Yemen flag, red color banners denouncing the bad situation in the country.

Other ten thousands of JMP allies demonstrated in western, southern and central provinces.

The repeated chants include “thirty years enough..Tunisia erupted for twenty.. oh Saudi take care somebody waits for you. Oh Saudi get ready someone will come to you” implying the removed Tunisian flee to Saudi Arabia. They also said words that is against extension and hereditary power and confirmed support to the joint meeting parties.

For other part, hundreds of Yemen ruling party supporters demonstrated in Sanaa in favor of the president Saleh, holding banners against what they called” trouble provokers” “No for sabotage ..No for homeland conspiracy .. Yes for elections”. They repeated chants in favor of the president and elections on time.

Local media reported that a young man, aged 25, set fire on himself Thursday evening in Aden city due to difficult situation, which is the second of its kind in Yemen after an unemployed man who burnt himself in Albayda last Wednesday inspired by Bu Azizi of Tunis.

A press release by Women Journalists Without Chains said the chairwoman Tawakkol Karman received a death threat when a phone call from the Yemen president came to her brother Tareq karman, asking him to adjust and make her under house arrest, citing a speech “from a crack disobeyed obedience, kill him/her”.

Tawakkol Karman, who is a journalist and rights activist, was arrested 2 days after abduction last Sunday without prosecution permission, for her key role in massive demonstrations occurred past 8 days in Sanaa, calling for the ruling regime of Saleh to step down.
