Yemeni Security bans protest in Shabwa

Sanaa-Security forces tightly controlled Ataq city of Shabwa governorate, southern Yemen Wednesday in anticipation to armed confrontation with the south movement and al-Qaida, which use the area as a safe haven for its operatives.

“Army forces tightened control over Ataq city today by deploying several armored vehicles in anticipation to potential confrontations with the movement and al-Qaida gunmen who pledged to held a big demonstration while authorities refused “, united press International reported an informed source as saying.

The source confirmed military enforcement followed the south movement call to make sit-ins in Ataq, which witnesses semi-daily confrontation with the movement elements to which Alqaida join.

Yemen authorities accuse Nasser Alnawba; a south movement leader, with instigating demonstrations even if by force which the authorities warned.

The security committee in Ataq held yesterday Tuesday a meeting and made a statement to ban armed protests or unlicensed rallies.

Worth mentioned the south movement has been calling for secession since March 2007, while AlQaida execute series of attacks in south govs targeting intelligence and security men, resulting to dozens of killings and injuries.

Separately, five people killed and others injured in an ambush by gunmen Wednesday in Alshehr of Hadramout, made on a car for the post office and military car according to local media.

Eyewitnesses said that 4 soldiers were killed, the Hadramout post office financial manager and 3 others injured including a soldier while they were on way to Alshehr ,in the Alis area located between Alshehr and Alhami, having salaries of staffers of three provinces with them.

According to sources the gunmen escaped, expecting looting the money that the post office car hold.
 
The dead were Omar Alamodi; Hadramout post office financial manager, Salem bin gunaid; military car driver, Rabei Algabri; a soldier Haitham Mohamed saeed; soldier and Naif Ba Sabri.
